Early Years English - Nouns


Objective: To teach children about nouns and to develop their vocabulary skills.

Materials:

  • Flashcards with pictures of common objects (e.g. dog, cat, ball, etc.)
  • Whiteboard and markers

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes)
    • Greet the students and explain the purpose of the lesson.
    • Ask the students if they know what nouns are.
    • Write the word "nouns" on the whiteboard.
  2. Picture labeling (10 minutes)
    • Show the students the flashcards with pictures of common objects and ask them to label each picture with the corresponding noun.
    • Encourage the students to say the name of the noun and to listen to the sounds of the words.
    • Repeat the activity several times, using different sets of flashcards each time.
  3. Noun matching (15 minutes)
    • Show the students two flashcards with pictures of common objects and ask them to match the objects based on their nouns.
    • Encourage the students to say the name of the nouns and to listen to the sounds of the words as they match the objects.
    • Repeat the activity several times, using different sets of flashcards each time.
  4. Closing (5 minutes)
    • Summarize what the students learned during the lesson.
    • Encourage the students to continue practicing nouns and to listen carefully to the sounds of words.
    • Dismiss the students and thank them for their participation.
