Here is a list of some personal systems related to habits, thoughts, and beliefs:
We are all moving through time but how do we experience the ride?
Attitude is an individual's overall evaluation of a particular object, person, situation, or event. It's a complex construct that is influenced by cognitive, emotional, and behavioural components. Attitudes are often described as positive or negative, but they can also be neutral.
Cognitive component of attitude refers to the beliefs, knowledge, and perceptions that an individual holds about a particular object, person, situation, or event. Emotional component refers to the feelings or emotions that an individual associates with that object, person, situation, or event. Behavioural component refers to the actions or behaviours that an individual engages in as a result of their attitude.
Attitudes are influenced by several factors, including:
Personality: Certain personality traits, such as extraversion and agreeableness, are associated with more positive attitudes.
Social norms: Attitudes are often shaped by the attitudes and behaviours of those around us.
Past experiences: Our experiences with a particular object, person, situation, or event can shape our attitudes towards it.
Exposure: The more we are exposed to a particular object, person, situation, or event, the more likely our attitude towards it will change.
Cognitive dissonance: When our attitudes and behaviours are in conflict, we may experience cognitive dissonance, which can lead to a change in attitude.
Persuasion and communication: The way information is presented to us and the way we communicate with others can also affect our attitudes.
Attitudes can also change over time, and they can be influenced by a variety of factors such as new information, social influences, and personal experiences. It's important to note that attitudes can be both positive and negative, and that they can be directed towards a wide range of things, including people, products, organizations, and even abstract concepts.
It's important to be aware of one's own attitudes and how they may be affecting one's thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and be open to changing them when needed. Additionally, it's important to acknowledge that attitudes are complex and multi-dimensional and may be influenced by a variety of factors, including our own experiences, cultural background, and physical health.
Let's say I need a lift to a job interview; I have three people I can call for help, the first has a positive attitude the second has a neutral attitude and the third has a negative attitude.
I know which attitude works best of all.
I know which attitude to set as my default.
I use a positive attitude as much as I possibly can.
How much of life would anyone want to experience with a good attitude and how much would they want to experience with a bad attitude?
My attitude is influenced by how I feel and how I intend to feel while doing things. The "how I feel" bit is what I already feel, the "how I intend to feel" bit is an opportunity to selected the best attitude to carry me forward nicely.
When I accept a task I form an attitude to guide me through that task, an attitude that I think fits the job nicely.
What do I consider when selecting an attitude?
Do I want to do it - if yes then it's a good attitude, if no then it's a bad attitude to discourage being given such a task again. Wrong! If I really don't want to do it I should simply refuse immediately. If I am actually going to do it, even if I don't like it, I should select a positive attitude and do the best job I can.
It seems people often adapt their attitudes when they interact with other more effective attitudes.
Attitudes have roots in emotional justice and balance. We can have a good (creative) attitude or we can have a bad (destructive) attitude. Our emotional environment influences our belief and attitude.
It seems a good attitude is more effective at ordering chaos than a bad attitude is at destroying chaos.
It is better to create allies from enemies than to destroy them.
If I catch myself selecting a negative attitude it is because I am in a hurry. If I am in a hurry that means I am running on emotions that don't plan they just act. If I am just acting without much thinking then I miss all the opportunities that I would have otherwise noticed in that time.
