Objective: To teach children about the alphabet and to develop their recognition and writing skills.
Materials:
- A set of letter cards (one for each letter of the alphabet)
- Whiteboard and markers
- Paper and pencils for each student
Procedure:
- Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and explain the purpose of the lesson.
- Ask the students if they know what the alphabet is.
- Write the word "alphabet" on the whiteboard.
- Alphabet recognition (10 minutes)
- Show the students the set of letter cards and ask them to identify each letter as you hold up one card at a time.
- Encourage the students to say the name of the letter and to listen to the sounds that the letters make.
- Repeat the activity several times, using different sets of letter cards each time.
- Alphabet writing (15 minutes)
- Give each student a piece of paper and a pencil.
- Show the students the set of letter cards and ask them to write each letter as you hold up one card at a time.
- Encourage the students to say the name of the letter and to listen to the sounds that the letters make as they write.
- Repeat the activity several times, using different sets of letter cards each time.
- Closing (5 minutes)
- Summarize what the students learned during the lesson.
- Encourage the students to continue practicing the alphabet and to listen carefully to the sounds of letters.
- Dismiss the students and thank them for their participation.
